sustainability

One of the most environmentally-friendly forms of mariculture, oysters are restorative to the bays & estuaries

Cultivating oysters require no supplemental feeding, medications or chemicals, and delivers a low impact alternate protein source, whilst reducing pressures on farm-raised and wild fisheries

tradition

New York & Long Island waters supported one of the largest oyster industries in the world up until the early 1900's

Our family roots date back to the early settlers', fishing & farming in the Rockaways & Eastern Long Island

heart

We love what we do...

Working at our shellfish nursery and on the bay is a rare gift. We take pride in what we do and want to grow the best oysters possible

Through our oysters we hope to inspire folks to become better stewards of the bay preserving the fragile waters of Long Island for future generations

STARTING WITH SMALL SEED

Each year we source seed from local hatcheries. In the Spring we begin their grow-out with oysters measuring about 2-4mm.  Taking time we diligently care for them for 10-16 months until they grow to market size.

ON THE BAY

The grounds are an optimal environment for oysters given the bays strong currents and nutrient-rich waters. We operate out of a small skiff utilizing grow-out methods that maximize the power of the tides and variations within the water column

Reminiscent of the unique approach used by our family oystermen more than a hundred years past
